Synopsis :
An
aging couple, Ethel and Norman Thayer, continue a tradition of spending
each summer at their cottage on a lake called Golden Pond, in the far
reaches of northern New England. When they first arrive, Ethel notices
the loons calling on the lake "welcoming them home" Norman, however,
claims he does not hear anything, Norman, who is about to turn 80, shows
signs of dementia when he is unable to recognize photographs from
several member of family . He copes with his memory problems by
frequently talking about death and growing old. Ethel does her best to
liven up the atmosphere – they play Parcheesi, admire the natural
scenery, and talk to the mailman, Charlie, who delivers mail and visits
via boat...
Jane
Fonda purchased the rights to the play specifically for her father,
Henry Fonda, to play the role of the cantankerous Norman Thayer.The
father-daughter rift depicted on-screen closely paralleled the real-life
relationship between the two Fondas.
The
movie received a total of 30 Nominations by various organization and
win 13 rewards included 3 from the Academy Awards, Best Actor Henry
Fonda, Best Actress Katharine Hepburn and Best Screenplay – Based on
Material from Another Medium, Ernest Thompson
Synopsis :
Un
couple vieillissant, Ethel et Norman Thayer, perpétuent une tradition
consistant à passer chaque été dans leur chalet au bord d'un lac appelé
Golden Pond, à l'extrême nord de la Nouvelle-Angleterre. Lorsqu'ils
arrivent pour la première fois, Ethel remarque que les huards appellent
le lac "les accueillant à la maison". Norman, cependant, affirme qu'il
n'entend rien, Norman, qui est sur le point d'avoir 80 ans, montre des
signes de démence lorsqu'il est incapable de reconnaître les
photographies de plusieurs membres de la famille. Il fait face à ses
problèmes de mémoire en parlant fréquemment de la mort et du
vieillissement. Ethel fait de son mieux pour animer l'ambiance : elles
jouent au Parcheesi, admirent le paysage naturel et discutent avec le
facteur, Charlie, qui livre le courrier et les visites en bateau...

Fonda a acheté les droits de la pièce spécifiquement pour que son père,
Henry Fonda, joue le rôle de l'acariâtre Norman Thayer. La rupture
père-fille représentée à l'écran était étroitement parallèle à la
relation réelle entre les deux Fonda.
Le
film a reçu un total de 30 nominations par diverses organisations et a
