Synopsis :

The plot centers on Korean War veteran Raymond Shaw, part of a prominent political family. Shaw is brainwashed by communists after his Army platoon is captured. He returns to civilian life in the United States, where he becomes an unwitting assassin in an international communist conspiracy. The group, which includes representatives of the People’s Republic of China and the Soviet Union, plans to assassinate the presidential nominee of an American political party, with the death leading to the overthrow of the U.S. government...

 

The Manchurian Candidate has been called one of the most "iconic" films of the cold war period, especially in its discussion of "mind-control." With one of the major plot points being the popular Cold War myth that China was brainwashing US soldiers for communist purposes during the Korean War. 

 

"The film was nominated 12 times by various organisation, 2 by the Academy Awards. He received 1 Golden Globe Awards for Best Supporting Actress for Angela Lansbury."

A remake of the film took place in 2004 directed by Jonathan Demme with: Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, Liev Schreiber, Jon Voight, as lead actors.

Synopsis :

L'intrigue est centrée sur Raymond Shaw, vétéran de la guerre de Corée, membre d'une famille politique éminente. Shaw subit un lavage de cerveau de la part des communistes après la capture de son peloton de l'armée. Il retourne à la vie civile aux États-Unis, où il devient un assassin involontaire dans une conspiration communiste internationale. Le groupe, qui comprend des représentants de la République populaire de Chine et de l'Union soviétique, envisage d'assassiner le candidat présidentiel d'un parti politique américain, sa mort conduisant au renversement du gouvernement 

américain...

 

Le Candidat Manchourien a été considéré comme l'un des films les plus « emblématiques » de la période de la guerre froide, notamment dans sa discussion sur le « contrôle mental ». L’un des principaux points de l’intrigue étant le mythe populaire de la guerre froide selon lequel la Chine lavait le cerveau des soldats américains à des fins communistes pendant la guerre de Corée.

 

"Le film a été nominé 12 fois par diverses organisations, dont 2 par l'Academy Awards. Il a reçu 1 Golden Globe Awards de la meilleure actrice dans un second rôle pour Angela Lansbury."

 

Un remake du film a eu lieu en 2004 mis en scène par Jonathan Demme avec : Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep, Liev Schreiber, Jon Voight, comme interprètes Principaux!
