Synopsis :

American journalist at the New York Times, Sidney Schanberg is one of the rare reporters to remain in Cambodia after the capture of Phnom Penh by the Khmer Rouge. The intervention of his assistant Dith Pran saves his life. Pran arrested, Schanberg returns to the United States as repression falls on Cambodia. The American journalist will then do everything to find Pran.

 

Haing S. Ngor Ngor was a refugee and survivor of the Cambodian genocide, surviving three terms in Cambodian prison camps before escaping, years prior to making the film.

Journaliste américain au New York Times, Sidney Schanberg est un des rares reporters à rester au Cambodge après la prise de Phnom Penh par les Khmers rouges. L'intervention de son assistant Dith Pran lui sauve la vie. Pran arrêté, Schanberg regagne les États-Unis alors que la répression s'abat sur le Cambodge. Le journaliste américain va alors tout faire pour retrouver Pran.

 

Haing S. Ngor Ngor était un réfugié et un survivant du génocide cambodgien. Il a survécu à trois peines dans des camps de prisonniers cambodgiens avant de s'échapper, des années avant de réaliser le film.
